Signs are clear — the meeting and event industry is growing up. Meetings and Conventions survey results about SMMP (Strategic Meetings Management Program) were just released, indicating that almost one-third of respondents have a program (doubled since the last survey in 2010 and nearly 2/3 are aware of what SMMP is — “. . . a disciplined approach to managing enterprise-wide meeting and event activities, processes and data.” Success of our meetings and events requires a formal, more stringent approach, and today’s business climate demands it.
